In \u0160urmanci, one of the villages of the Medjugorje Parish along the Neretva River, stands the Chapel of the Merciful Jesus. Each year, on the Feast of Divine Mercy, the first Sunday after Easter, the anniversary of the consecration of this chapel, built and consecrated on 7 April 2002, is celebrated. The initiative to build the chapel was launched in 1998 by the then-parish priest of Medjugorje, Fra Ivan Landeka. The chapel was designed by the Italian architect Michele Bergamasco. A prayer group from Trento gifted Medjugorje with a monumental holy image (icon) of the Merciful Jesus, which holds great significance: the miracle of healing associated with this image was one of the miracles recognized during the beatification process of St. Faustina Kowalska. It also played a role in the recognition of devotion to the Merciful Jesus and the institution of the Feast of Divine Mercy on the first Sunday after Easter. For several years, this image was kept in a small chapel at the \u0160urmanci cemetery until it found its permanent place in this chapel, which is dedicated to the Merciful Jesus. Since the construction of the Chapel of the Merciful Jesus, the village of \u0160urmanci has become a destination for numerous faithful and pilgrims. They come in organized groups to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet before the icon and to entrust themselves to the Merciful Jesus.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
