BLAŽ Enology

The association BLAŽ Enology gathers the best wine makers from Bosnia and Herzegovina whose main objective is to present Bosnia and Herzegovina as a wine region with the emphasis on our two autochthonous varieties of grape  Žilavka and Blatina. The association Blaž Enology functions as a platform which through three main events wants to present Herzegovina as a wine region. The central and main event is the Blaž Enology manifestation. This manifestation is one of the pivotal and most significant wine festivals in this region, with the emphasis on our two autochthonous varieties of grapes – Žilavka and Blatina. The manifestation takes place every year at the beginning of September at the Sport Center in Medjugorje. Every year the manifestation itself gathers around 30 local wineries, including the guest wineries from neighboring regions. The visitors of the manifestation every year have the ability to enjoy in the entertainment part of the program as well as in the gastronomic offer and rich cuisine. The second aspect of this platform is educational. With regards to presentation and wine promotion, the association Blaž Enology works also on the enhancement and quality of wine.  With this said, the association organizes wine workshop where wine producers can speak directly with the best Croatian sommelier mr.Siniša Lasan. Mr. Lasan gives them ideas and advises them on how to improve the quality of their wines. The third part of this platform is also educational. It enables the participants and wine producers to participate at the course for sommeliers. We have to emphasize that thus far, around 300 participants have participated in the course.  The course is open to everyone and all those who want to improve their knowledge about wine and how to pair wine with food, are welcome to this course. The teacher of the course is professor Dražen Šunjić, WSET.
