INTERNATIONAL FOLKLORE EVENINGS – VIONICA

The International Folklore Evenings is a traditional folklore festival held in Vionica, the central part of the Brotnjo region. Established in early 2011 alongside the foundation of the Croatian Cultural and Artistic Association St. Mark (HKUD Sv. Marko) – Vionica, the festival quickly grew to become one of the largest and most renowned cultural events of its kind in BiH. The International Folklore Evenings are organized by HKUD Sv. Marko – Vionica and last for three evenings. This folklore festival offers both entertainment and an educational dimension, presenting a fresh narrative from the past each year. During the festival, attendees gain insight into the diversity of folklore in Herzegovina and the international folklore groups participating in the event. The festival places a strong emphasis on cherishing folk dances, costumes, and customs, with the aim of preserving various traditional values and cultural heritage of Herzegovinians. In addition, the organizers want to attract a wide audience, foster cultural collaboration, and promote understanding among ethnic groups. Over the ten years of the festival’s existence, the stage in Vionica has welcomed performances from around a hundred cultural and artistic associations hailing from thirteen different countries.
