Križevac

KRIŽEVAC is the hill overlooking Medjugorje. A rocky path with the Stations of the Cross, installed in 1987, leads to the summit, where an 8.56-meter-tall concrete cross stands. The cross was built with the participation of residents from all five villages of the Medjugorje Parish, at the invitation of the parish priest, Fra Bernardin Smoljan. The votive cross was constructed during January and February of 1934 to celebrate the Holy Jubilee Year, marking 1900 years since the Passion and Death of Our Lord Jesus Christ. In March of the same year, the cross was consecrated, and the first Holy Mass was celebrated. In a messaged of 30 August 1984, Our Lady said: “Dear children! The cross, too, was part of God’s plan when you built it.”
