Didak Days is a cultural-scientific-spiritual event dedicated to promoting the life and work of Father Didak Buntić. This event began in 2004 in Didak’s birthplace parish and has significantly contributed to presenting the life and work of Father Didak Buntić to contemporary generations, continuing the preservation of the memory of the Father of Herzegovina.
The cultural-scientific program of Didak Days is exceptionally rich and successful. By 2020, more than fifty scientists have analyzed the life and work of Father Didak Buntić from various perspectives, thus contributing to the event. The results of the event include various publications, and two documentary films have been made about the prominent figure from Brotnjo. The life and work of Father Didak Buntić have also inspired several theatrical plays. The Drama Section of the Croatian Cultural and Artistic Society Didak (HKUD Didak) achieved great success with an impressive trilogy about the life of the Father of Herzegovina: “In the Years of Famine”, “Teachers”, and “The End of the World”.
Through the work of the Didak Art Colony, numerous academic painters and sculptors have also contributed to the event, enriching the collection of Didak’s Gallery in Gradnići with their works.
It is commendable that Didak Days have also contributed to the restoration of the religious, cultural, and historical heritage in the Parish of Gradnići. This parish can boast of an old parish church, the oldest wine cellar, and an old school. In addition, as part of the event, the renovated memorial house of Father Didak Buntić was opened. This house, located in Paoča, is the birthplace of Father Didak, and his monument adorns the square in front of the parish church. The monument in front of the parish church in Gradnići is the work of academic sculptor Petar Dolić and was unveiled during the third Didak Days. These are just some of the places where the official opening ceremony took place.
Along with the parish priest of Gradnići, HKUD Didak is the main organizer of Didak Days.
